The Truth About Why Some Men Over 40 Never Get Married
Ever wondered why some men over 40 never get married? Is it because of the utter derision with which they view the hallowed institution of marriage, or their myopic belief that there’s a perfectly-normal life outside of this venerable institution? May be because they have gotten used to the idea of treating their bachelor status with vacuous arrogance and a false sense of pride? Does the fear of commitment, children and the cauldron of ponderous responsibilities make them develop cold-feet?
There are several pre-conceived notions about this very debatable subject. But despite its ubiquity, the real reason for this phenomenon remains shrouded in a cloak of exotic mystery. It’s time to examine the likely causes without being constrained by conventionality.
No Marriage On The Cards
Isn’t it a fact that almost all men want to settle down with that someone special at some point in time in their lives? But that ‘special someone’ is the deciding factor here. Many men opine that it’s better to stay single than tie the knot with the wrong woman and end up making a beeline for the divorce lawyer. May be they have kind of raised the bar a bit too much, or maybe they didn’t feel that spark even in the company of some very accomplished women.
Many middle-aged men are so engrossed in their own insular world (read: the elitist trappings of power and money) that marriage and everything connected with it takes a backseat. For some, it’s the fulfillment of personal and professional goals that takes top position in their priority list. You might find quite a few commitment-phobic gentlemen swanning around too, but thankfully, they constitute only a miniscule majority.
Of course, there are those that have given it a full-on shot, and have failed miserably. And they are certainly in no mood for another attempt at marital bliss.
But contrary to popular perception, these confirmed bachelors do not vehemently oppose the concept of marriage. In fact, many of them hold it in very high esteem.
Whatever the reason, a single man in his 40’s does cause quite an animated chatter wherever he goes!
